CHSU Pharmacy Students Wake Up in Las Vegas to Present a Sleep Study
November 29, 2017
CHSU College of Pharmacy third-year students Harneet Kaur, Baldev Singh, and Mai Lee Yang attended the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) seminar at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on October 27th to present their sleep study on CHSU pharmacy students. Harneet, Baldev, and Mai Lee organized a sleep awareness event as part of Kappa Psi’s HOPE Committee event on March 30th and collected surveys from students. Using the surveys, they created a poster focusing on the association between sleep and academic performance in pharmacy students.
Our students had the opportunity to present at the CSHP seminar which is the largest pharmacy professional conference in the state. In order to be selected for this poster presentation, they had to submit an abstract from which the selection process was made. Other presenters included first and second-year resident students along with pharmacists. Being selected as a student to present at this seminar is a great achievement, and is certainly one that CHSU can be proud of.
Along with the poster presentation, these students attended workshops like Curriculum Vitae Writing, Beyond Graduation and Career Transition, and Pharmacy Law Updates for 2017. Harneet, Baldev, and Mai Lee took the initiative as P3 students to go above and beyond to meet with upcoming pharmacy student graduates and learn about their residency programs.
Harneet, Baldev, and Mai Lee would like to thank Dr. Tom Maez and Rx Relief for their generous sponsorship. They would like to sincerely appreciate Dr. Daniel Brown and Dr. Christopher Foley for their input and guidance throughout the process, along with the CHSU faculty and P4 students who went to the CSHP seminar and showed support for their fellow students at the poster exhibition.
