April 11, 2018
Congratulations to Allen Keshishian Namagerdi, a 4th year College of Pharmacy student at CHSU, and faculty mentor Dr. William Ofstad, PharmD, BCPS, CDE, Assistant Dean for Education and Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences, for being chosen as 2018 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Walmart Scholar Program recipients.
AACP Walmart Scholar Program strives to assist well-prepared men and women who are committed to enhancing their career in academic pharmacy and who aspire to join the faculties at their institutions. The recipients of this scholarship receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend the 2018 AACP Annual Meeting and Teachers Seminar in Boston, Massachusetts from July 21-25th with a faculty mentor.
This program provides scholarships to 85 deserving student/faculty pairs who have distinguished themselves by having a strong background in teaching, research, service, and among other qualifications.
“I feel very lucky to have the support and guidance of faculty and preceptors at California Health Sciences University, especially Dr. William Ofstad. Collaboration with my academic mentor, Dr. William Ofstad, has inspired me to pursue a career in academic pharmacy. Through ongoing coaching and my work as his course teaching assistant, I have discovered that academics would not be possible without faculty deeply engaging in teaching, scholarship and service,” says Allen. “My desire to join academic pharmacy is fueled by my passion for teaching and research and through opportunities to make meaningful contributions to service and practice.”
