CHSU Students and Faculty Provide Glucose Screenings and Education to Senior Citizens at Clovis Senior Activity Center Health and Wellness Fair
July 17, 2018
On Monday, July 9th, CHSU students and faculty participated in the Health and Wellness Fair at Clovis Senior Activity Center to provide blood glucose screenings and education on appropriate blood sugar levels after meals for the senior community.
The fourth year pharmacy students that participated were Baldev Singh, Christopher Schene, Evon Nguyen, and Andrea D’Souza. The preceptors that attended were Yuchen Wang, PharmD, BCPP, Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences, and Nicole Nielsen, PharmD, BCACP, APh, Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences.
At the event, the senior community received a stamp from each station in which they participated. Once they received a stamp from all of the stations, they received an extra raffle ticket.
“Educating the senior community about diabetes type II and informing them about their health is a great way to keep our community elders knowledgeable about their well-being,” said student, Baldev Singh. “I am thankful I had the opportunity to show the senior community ways on how to live a healthier life.”
Great job to Clovis Senior Activity Center for organizing a successful health fair and providing senior citizens with an opportunity to receive free healthcare. We look forward to partnering with them again!
