CHSU Teams Up with Camerena Health to Educate Others on Careers in Pharmacy

June 12, 2018

Christopher Foley, PharmD, AE-C, Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences, and Carrie Vue, third year College of Pharmacy student, participated in Camarena Health’s Annual “Health Careers Start Here” High School Youth Conference.
The conference took place on Friday, April 24 at Madera Community College Center, where over 100 high school and college students in health career pathway programs and students interested in pursuing a career in health care attended.
At the conference, Dr. Foley and Carrie Vue spoke with 12 groups of high school and college students about a career in pharmacy and answered questions about pharmacy school. They facilitated a Medication Therapy Management (MTM) activity, where they filled pill boxes with candy for model patients.
Dr. Foley was also featured in Camarena Health’s video and spoke about the benefit of exposing high school students to a career in medicine so that they can determine if that career choice is right for them.
CHSU would like to thank Camarena Health for organizing such a great event and inspiring students to pursue health care professions in the Central Valley.
