January 16, 2018
According to the US News and World Report, the pharmacy profession was listed as #20 in Best Paying Jobs, #23 in Best Health Care Jobs, and #45 in The 100 Best Jobs.
Pharmacists are a critical component of the healthcare team. Pharmacists not only dispense medications, but are considered primary health care providers in collaboration with physicians. SB 493 legislation gave new authorities to all licensed pharmacists, meaning they can administer not only topical and oral medications, but also injections. Pharmacists have the ability to furnish certain hormonal contraceptives, prescription medications for travel, access to patients’ medical records, and so much more. This is a much needed and growing profession with only a 2% unemployment rate.
These new statistics from US News and World Report on the progressing industry of pharmacy are great news for our current and future CHSU College of Pharmacy students. Our students can transition from school into their careers with confidence in their future financial and job stability, as well as diverse career options available within this rapidly growing profession.
