Please Welcome Dr. Randy Culbertson!

Randall “Randy” Culbertson, DO, MBA has been appointed Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education of the CHSU Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), effective March 27, 2018.
Dr. Culbertson most recently served as the Chief Development Officer of Tenet Health (Desert Regional Medical Center-Palm Springs) in the Coachella Valley. In this position, he supervised all activities around growth, service line planning, physician relations activities, marketing, business planning, and strategic planning for the Coachella Valley including collaboration between the two Tenet facilities.  In addition, he was the Vice-President of Graduate Medical Education and the Director of Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official starting five residency programs in 2015-16.
A board-certified family practitioner by training, Dr. Culbertson earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Missouri State University.  Dr. Culbertson has excelled in various roles throughout his career in health care including, practicing family medicine for over 15 years and serving as the Chief of Family Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital of Blue Springs, as well as being elected as Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s. He then became the Chief Medical Officer for the Carondelet Health System which later became part of Ascension Health for seven years.  He then served as a physician consultant for Cerner designing, implementing, training, and guiding acceptance of electronic medical records around the country.  He then took a role with HCA Midwest as the VP for business development for eastern Kansas City for five years before moving to California.
Additionally, Dr. Culbertson is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons, the American Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Association of Osteopathic Directors of Medical Education, as well as other national organizations.
Dr. Culbertson has a passion for building relationships with physicians based on mutual trust, understanding their interests and concerns, and resolving any issues that may come up as quickly as possible while maintaining great relationships. This skill set will be well suited in his new role at CHSU as he builds relationships with physicians in our community to secure clerkships and residency sites for the CHSU Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine.
