First CHSU Teaching Certificates Issued to PGY-1 Residents

May 8, 2018

Started by CHSU in 2017, our Teaching Certificate Program provided PGY-1 residents to with hands-on instruction and mentorship in team-based learning education with our clinical faculty and education experts, Drs. Bethanne Carpenter, Ali FakhriRavari, and Christopher Foley. In class, our residents became the teachers, facilitated student learning and led activities in the classroom, as well as assessed student learning. They also received focused instruction on teaching methods, classroom facilitation, teaching philosophy development, exam-item analysis, precepting, life-long learning skills, and more.
We want to congratulate our inaugural residents receiving their CHSU Teaching Certificates, Drs. Jessica Vincent, Sukhpreet Kaur, and Song Lee Kim! Surrounded by their preceptors, Drs. Stephen Rettig, Bryan Carlson, Quintin Broussard, Ahmed Abdelhali, and David Fuentes.
For anyone wanting more information on our teaching certificate program and how to formally enroll as a PGY-1, PGY-2 or pharmacist practitioner in our community, please contact Dr. David Fuentes at dfuentes@chsu.edu
