College of Pharmacy Program Welcomes the Class of 2021

Eighty seven students officially became Doctor of Pharmacy candidates during the annual CHSU White Coat Ceremony on which was held on Saturday, September 30 at the Paul Shaghoian Memorial Concert Hall at Clovis North High School.
The newest cohort, representing the class of 2021 have already begun their journey to becoming a Pharmacist and the symbolic act of receiving their white coat marks a major milestone in their road to achievement.
The event was sponsored by Walgreens, Rite Aid, Rx Relief, California Pharmacists Association, and Mike Webber, London Properties.  Matthew Muscato, RPh, Director of Pharmacy and Retail Operations, Central Valley from Walgreens gave special remarks at the beginning of the ceremony, followed by Heidi Peterson, PharmD, MBA, Director of College Relations and Professional Recruitment from Rite Aid.
Dr. Daniel Brown, Dean of the College of Pharmacy was the host of the event and faculty members, Dr. Delwar Hussain and Dr. Will Ofstad helped to officiate the ceremony by presenting the students with their white coats.  Upon receiving their coat, each student signed the Pledge of Professionalism which was written by the students as a commitment to always give 100% effort and maintain high professional standards.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Susan M. Stein, who received her doctorate in health education from A.T. Still University and currently serves as the managing member of the Susan M. Stein Consulting, LLC, and Professor Emeritus at Pacific University. Dr. Stein is involved in academic innovation and pharmacy practice advancement.
Thank you to all those to attended the White Coat Ceremony, the class of 2021 appreciates the immense support they were shown from their family and friends as well as CHSU faculty, staff, the Board of Trustees and the event sponsors. We look forward to following these students as they achieve their goal of becoming a pharmacist and will come together again to celebrate this achievement in May 2021.
