CHSU White Coat Ceremony Welcomes 165 New Medical Students at Clovis Medical School

October 1, 2026

In the presence of family and friends, California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) honored 165 medical students in the Class of 2030 during its White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

At the ceremony, John Graneto, DO, Dean of the CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, reflected on a significant milestone for the university with over 1,000 medical students receiving a white coat since 2020.

“Today, we are not only celebrating a milestone for each of you, but for our Valley’s medical school. Today marks the 1,000th student to walk across this stage and participate in the White Coat Ceremony.”,”remarked John Graneto, DO, Dean of the CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Carrie Janiski, DO, President of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California, delivered an inspiring welcome address. She reminded students of what the white coat symbolizes and encouraged them never to lose the curiosity that drew them to medicine or forget the purpose that inspired them to pursue the profession.

Julius Vo, DO, CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine alum from the class of 2026, and Dr. Janiski coated the first student in the ceremony.

The “short” white coats for medical students were generously sponsored by the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California, an organization focused on advancing and supporting osteopathic physicians in California by serving its mission to engage, educate, and advocate for DOs, so doctors can focus on being doctors. Founded in 1961, the association serves over 17,000 Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) throughout California.
