Free Health Fair at Clovis Pharmacy School

California Health Sciences University will host a free health fair that’s open to the public on Saturday, October 1st from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at their College of Pharmacy campus in Clovis. This is the second annual free health fair hosted at the Clovis pharmacy school campus.
• | Community Medical Centers is the presenting sponsor of the community health fair, which will offer free health care services, health screenings and education for the entire family. | |
• | Walgreens will be there offering flu shots at no cost to the first 300 qualified individuals nine years or older. | |
• | Licensed health providers from the community and partnering colleges and universities will be providing free screenings for asthma, vision, heart failure, high blood pressure and diabetes. Health professionals will provide assessments for fall risks as well as a “brown bag” medication review where prescribed and store bought medications can be brought from home for review for compatibility, proper use and side effects. | |
• | Expired and unused prescription medications can also be brought to the event for safe disposal. | |
• | Dozens of private and public agencies and non-profit agencies will be at the health fair offering health education on diabetes, heart health, nutrition, tobacco use and demonstrations on CPR, first aid and how to use an AED device. | |
• | There will be activities offered for free in the Kidzone where children can enjoy inflatable slides, games, and healthy snacks. | |
• | Food will be distributed from Community Food Bank along with fresh produce and health snacks courtesy of Nisei Farmers’ League and Wawona Frozen foods. | |
• | The event will be supported by over 150 volunteers that speak dozens of languages, including Spanish, Hmong, Vietnamese, Armenian, Hindi, Punjabi, and Farsi to name a few. | |
• | Students and health providers from Walgreens, CHSU College of Pharmacy, Fresno State, Clovis Community College, Clovis Unified School District, Community Medical Centers, and UCSF Fresno are volunteering to provide the no cost flu shots, health screenings and health education to our community. | |
• | The free community health fair is also sponsored by Granville, Rite Aid, LaBuena 101.9, Exitos 107.1, California Bank and Trust, and Bulldog Linens and Catering. | |
• | The California Health Sciences University campus is located in Clovis at 120 N. Clovis Avenue, just south of Herndon Avenue and Freeway 168. |

About California Health Sciences University (CHSU)
CHSU offers a four year, Doctor of Pharmacy program for local students and beyond. With a mission to improve health care outcomes for people within the region, CHSU College of Pharmacy trains pharmacy students to provide primary patient care in conjunction with other health care providers. CHSU is now accepting applications for the fourth cohort of students that will start in August 2017. Qualified applicants will be invited to a day-long interview and top candidates will be invited to begin their professional school career at the first pharmacy school in the Central Valley.
