California Health Sciences University Honors 76 Doctor of Pharmacy Graduates on Saturday

CLOVIS, Calif. – California Health Sciences University College of Pharmacy will hold its Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2021 at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 15 at Clovis Hills Community Church.

The University is honoring its fourth cohort of 76 Doctor of Pharmacy graduates in their Class of 2021.

University officials announced that over half of the class have already secured employment or residencies. Ninety percent of the graduates plan to stay in California and seventy percent plan to practice in the Central Valley.

The College of Pharmacy Dean, Dr. Mark Okamoto, will lead the ceremony and hooding of the graduates, with assistance from Dr. Harish Parihar, Associate Dean for Academics and Dr. Sunil Sonawane, Director of Experiential Education.

President Florence Dunn will confer the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) upon the graduates, bringing the total number of pharmacists graduating from CHSU to 244 in four years.

The university plans to open up to 10 post-baccalaureate colleges to train health care professionals in the coming years. The timing and specific discipline for each new school will be determined based on the need and opportunity for job placement within the region.
