CHSU College of Pharmacy Alum Shares His Perspective on the Value of Leadership

August 19, 2022

California Health Sciences University College of Pharmacy (CHSU COP) alum Mike Farr, PharmD, was recently invited onto the GV Wire’s Unfiltered with Darius Assemi, Steve Brandau, and Mike Karbassi, to share his perspective on how strong leadership shapes the Central Valley and how the leadership skills he learned at CHSU are helping him make an impact as a local pharmacist.

“CHSU really showed me what true leadership was,” said Dr. Farr. “It really taught me a lot of core leadership values, and we want keep that in Fresno – we want to keep all our leaders here.”

Dr. Farr grew up in Fresno with a family of doctors who inspired him to pursue a medical career. When he had the opportunity to join the inaugural CHSU College of Pharmacy class in 2014, he seized the opportunity. He felt that his goals aligned with the CHSU mission, to help train medical professionals who will stay and serve the local community.

“What an amazing opportunity to build something here – to be a part of some new change. That really drew me to that opportunity,” said Dr. Farr.

During his time in pharmacy school, he took the opportunity to develop his leadership skills as well, serving as the student body president and as a student representative on the hiring committee for one of the deans.

Dr. Farr graduated from CHSU COP in 2018. After graduation he served as a per diem pharmacist at Rite Aid in Chowchilla. Currently Dr. Farr serves in Fresno as a retail pharmacist at Walgreens and a clinical pharmacist in Integrated Prescription Management, a pharmaceutical benefit management company.
