Over 80 Women Leaders Discover the Local Impact of Clovis Medical Students
February 12, 2024
On February 10, The One Hundred Vision Committee hosted the second annual Valentine’s Tea & Social at the California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU). The purpose of the event was to educate local, women leaders about how to support medical students who are helping to address the health disparities in the Central Valley.
Over 80 women were enriched by the inspirational event that gave them an exclusive look into the Clovis medical school. They toured the university’s state-of-the-art Simulation Center, stepping into the shoes of medical students where they studied holographic anatomy using the Microsoft HoloLens 2™. They also practiced medical skills throughout the in-patient hospital clinic and out-patient clinic.
During the exquisite tea and lunch, they listened to Tatiana Abdulnour, third-year medical student, speak about her journey through medical school and the need to fund scholarships for CHSU students.
Abdulnour shared about her passion to educate and uplift the community where she extended her medical school education with an additional year after accepting a pre-doctorate fellowship called CHSU Osteopathic Principles and Practices Student Scholars to train first and second-year medical students on their clinical and osteopathic courses.
“It is so fulfilling because teaching has always been a passion of mine,” said Abdulnour, “and I get to be a part of building the reputation of our school and the next generation of physicians that will come from here who will hopefully establish themselves here in the Central Valley.”
To close the event, the Vision Committee also unveiled a plaque posted in the College of Osteopathic Medicine building to honor Founding Members who joined The One Hundred and committed to donating annually towards CHSU student scholarships.
Guests were invited to join the cause and become a member of The One Hundred, which was founded by community leaders in partnership with CHSU to mobilizes the power, passion, philanthropy, and principles of women committed to supporting student scholarship opportunities for future health care professionals in the Central Valley.
