Rocky Reyes Replacement Blood Drive To Be Hosted at CHSU-COM

August 10, 2022

California Health Sciences University (CHSU), in partnership with the Central California Blood Center, is proud to host the Rocky Reyes Replacement Blood Drive on campus this Saturday. Rocky is a Valley native and Buchanan High School graduate who was diagnosed with Leukemia on his 18th birthday earlier in May. The community has come together to support Rocky and his family, but one of his biggest needs at this time is blood products.

“It’s been a whirlwind, and our world has been turned upside down,” said Dr. JoJo Reyes, Rocky’s father. “We’re a few months into his plan of care and we are so thankful that Central Valley has a lot of the things that he needs. But one of the items that he still needs is blood.”

According to the Central California Blood Center, one in seven people entering the hospital will require blood. Since blood has a short shelf life, the supply must continually be replenished in order to ensure continued adequacy of the blood supply.

“When people come out to these blood drives, it not only serves our son, but serves the whole population here in the Valley. It’s nice to know that the Central Valley does a good job of collecting blood products,” said Dr. Reyes.

Join us for the Rocky Reyes Replacement Blood Drive at CHSU-COM, located on the cross streets of Temperance and Alluvial, this Saturday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Parking on campus is free.

Food trucks including Constas Tacos and Cherry on Top will be on site selling food. Everyone who donates will receive a voucher for a pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream.

Walk-ins are welcome or you can register for an appointment time.

We are excited to see you there this Saturday we rally around Rocky!
